Harborview Medical Center, Lobby Floor, Seattle, WA
King County Arts Commission

1800 sq. ft. terrazzo floor serves as the entryway to the hospital. The terrazzo is embedded with beads of the world, semi precious stones, mother of pearl, shell slices, and coins of many countries. The golden cells, or pools, are composed of etched travertine tiles filled and stained with epoxy grout. Near the reception desk rests a terrazzo red sun 9 feet in diameter. This is a “red giant” or a young sun, which begins the cycle of Full Circle.
